hi all,my cross shaft pin broke off and spider gears and cross shaft are monted.holes in carrier are sloppy from cross shaft sliding and catching on diff housing.Anyway my Q is does it matter if there is a little play in carrier,wont know how much till i get new cross shaft and pin.dont wont to replace spiders and cross shaft it is not going to hold.
Any excessive slack or wear in a diff. is not good. Your gears will not be meshing correctly, you may have noise , and probably not last long. Check the wreckers they may have one with a bad crown gear.
