DIY Wind Turbine
Along with solar power, wind power deserves attention as a viable source of energy which offers the extra benefit of being completely clean. The parts needed are nothing unusual. You might even have some around the house already. All wind turbines have rotor blades, a generator, and sheet metal to mount the equipment on.
The most important parts of any wind turbine are the blades and rotor assembly. This is the section of the turbine that collects the wind and rotates. Different sources offer instructions for building rotor blades, which can be done using PVC pipe. This, too, doesn’t take professional-level mechanical skills.
An appropriate generator is the next requirement. There are many different sorts of generators available; in many cases, appliances with motors can be used for this purpose. Motors that can generate electricity when rotated are suitable for this purpose.
Once you have all of these parts, all that’s left is to mount the rotor and blades on one end of a platform and join the shaft from the rotor to the shaft on the generator. Is it more likely that my timing is off or I need new ignition parts?
I have a 1985 Chevy s-10 Tahoe pickup with a 2.8l v6 engine. My problem is that the engine has started to choke and sputter sometimes when I'm accelerating at speeds above 45 mph, mainly on the highway. According to my manual the the main causes for this problem are that the timing needs adjusting and that I need to replace ignition parts (rotor, points, distributor, spark plugs and spark plug cables.
My question is this. Is it more likely that the problem is the timing or the parts? The timing was last adjusted about three years ago. The ignition parts are approximately the same age. My time and money is limited and I want to know more about what exactly is wrong before addressing the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
If it idles well and has good pickup from a stop I would be asking you when the fuel filter was last changed.
