Traveling and Andorra
Andorra sits in Western Europe with a high mountain climate. The region of Andorra is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Andorra has a high percentage of sunshine with a dry climate. If you are a nature lover traveling on Andorra, you will find that Andorra has many things to offer. Nature activity like hiking, trails and mountain bike routes are only a few things you will find in your quest for excitement.
If you want to travel to Andorra, there are some things that you must know to make your trip more fun and relaxing. Andorra does not have a railway system or an airport. The transportation infrastructure is primarily road-based. The roads within Andorra account for 269 km.
If you are visiting it from outside the EU and attempting to exit France or Spain into Andorra, this might result in termination of your single-entry visa. Immigration people do not always enforce this rule; but you do not want to be in trouble the time they decide to enforce it.
If you are traveling by plane there are no airports in Andorra. There are however, daily coach services available from Barcelona, Spain and Toulouse, France to Andorra. The closest airport is located in Perpignan France. There are no coach connections available but you can take a Yellow train to La tour De Carol and onward to l’Hospitalet. If you are adventurous and want to attempt a helicopter ride into Andorra from the airports, it will take you approximately 35 minutes to reach there.
There are rental car agencies available for your driving needs. You can drive over the mountain ranges into Andorra. Keep in mind that if the mountain ranges are blocked by snow or other dangerous conditions, the mountain passes will be closed. Another great tip about driving into Andorra through the mountain passes is, make sure you have enough fuel in your car.
If you decide to drive to Andorra, you must remember to drive on the right side of the road. A good suggestion for items to have in cases of emergencies is first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a spare bulb kit and snow chains or snow tires during the winter. To keep extra warm clothes and blankets in case you break down within the mountain passes is a wise idea. Remember to drive carefully because of the constant snow and ice which covers the roads on a permanent basis. Public transportation is also available. You can take a public bus to and from Barcelona, Girona or Toulouse airports. You can even hire a private bus.
Public transportation comes with its own pros and cons. Pros would be Cheaper than hiring a private driver and the private bus will take you directly to your apartment or hotel. Cons are The bus schedule may not be suitable to your needs; the public bus will not wait for you not unlike other places in the world and the Public bus services will only take you to the Toulouse airport.
Whatever your transportation needs are, you will find that you will be accommodated in some way or the other. With a little patience and the desire to spend some time in beautiful Andorra, you will not be disappointed with your preparation in mind; you will be greatly pleased with what Andorra has to offer.
