Beautiful Underwater Boat Lights For Fishing
At first glance, you may think that underwater fishing lights on boats are a novelty and only good for party boats at night. Well, they certainly look really cool and add to the party atmosphere, but under water lights do much more than just make nighttime boating more fun. For one thing, they facilitate rescue of a vessel in trouble at night because they make it so easy to find. For another, they really are useful as underwater fishing lights because they attract fish like a back porch light attracts moths. You can stop your boat with the lights on and have your own aquarium.
There seem to be 4 kinds of under water lights: xenon, halogen, high intensity discharge (HID) lights, and light emitting diode (LED) lights. LED under water lights are getting really accepted because of their low power usage, and their extremely long life. For one thing, they last up to 60,000 hours, which is longer than most people even own their boat. LED lights shine at peak brightness all through their life span, and they even use the least quantity of electrical power of the four types, so they won't deplete battery power. They run much cooler, too, and some brands feature automatic safety switches that turn the lights off if for some reason they do become overheated. They come in several colors, and have a number of different mounting options.
Underwater LED lights for fishing are modular and flexable to allow you you to install just a few or many.. Some larger yachts have them attached all the way around the vessel every few feet, to make a great halo effect underwater. You can obtain them in white, blue, and green, and choice depends on individual preference and the sort of water the boat is used in. For example, in clear waters, white lights are great, but for more opaque waters, blue works well. Green performs best in murky waters.
Pure blues and greens are actually scientifically verified to be easy on fishes' eyes, to ensure that when you are using blue or green underwater fishing lights, the fish tend to be in no way as skittish whenever they are brought up onto the boat. Sword fishermen report that with blue lights, swordfish calm down considerably when they're brought into the boat, and the same phenomenon is reported with game fish including tuna.
Fish strobe lights come pre-programmed with several strobing patterns that can be controlled by a switch mounted on the control panel. Patterns include slow or rapid strobing, irregular flashes, or long bursts of light. They can be mounted through the hull, flush-mounted, or surface mounted with no below-waterline hull penetration. Aluminum engine brackets are another mounting option.
With LED under water lights, electrical connections are snap-together plugs. These integrate into a transformer that is hooked up to a fused, switched power source that is generally located on the dash panel. The transformers are obtainable as 12 or 24 volt DC or 110 volt AC. OceanLED brand underwater fishing lights come with a lens coated with a substances that disperses light and resists algae growth.
Underwater fishing lights add to the actual boating experience in numerous ways. Not only do they add tremendously to the ambiance at night, but they attract fish, whether for fishing purposes, or simply the enjoyment of getting to see the beautiful sea life at night. LED under water lights are becoming very popular because of their low energy consumption, and their exceptionally long life.
how much larger would an aluminum motor need to be to be as efficient and conductive as a copper wound motor?
The electric resistance of aluminum is about 50 % higher than copper. Therefore the cross section of the coils would have to be about 25% thicker, for the same insulation class.
Answer: about 25% larger.
